I was so looking forward to this event that my sister-in-law Stephanie invited to. I photograph, she reviews some of the best, tech-savvy vehicles! And as a member of the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA), she’s attended the Texas Truck Rodeo.

The Texas Truck Rodeo is a TAWA event where car reviewers can actually test-drive almost the entire classifications of SUV and trucks out by Hamilton Pool at Star Hill Ranch — an old town movie set!

Besides all the torque-crushing, beefy trucks on display ready to take on the off-road course, the highlight to my day was the $400,000 Rolls Royce Cullinan. One thing I found really funny was the $20,000 added option of tailgate seats. You really believe the type of owners of this vehicle would option it like that? I love it! Don’t spill the grey poupon.

The craftsmanship and attention to detail on a lot of these trucks and SUVs were really surprising. I loved the two-tone leather and suede accents featured in the Ram 1500 Longhorn edition.

The other highlight for me was the hush-hush-don’t-post-anything-yet 2021 Ram TRX — it’s embargoed until October 23. We also got to mash the pedal to the metal in the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat — also embargoed until November 30.

I really commend TAWA and the many manufactures involved, keeping people safe and healthy during the entire event. Everyone was wearing masks and when you brought the vehicle back from a test-drive, they cleaned the inside before the next person could review.

If you have any SUV or truck questions, hit me up because we got to see a lot more than what you see here.

Until next year, my friends! #OptOutside
